As I walked through the dark, wet streets I started to wonder why there were no cars on the road at all. Even Mires Avenue (which I was walking through), the busiest road in the town was completely empty! I continued walking through the now pouring rain when I saw a black mysterious figure appear out of the shadows. I saw him raise his arm. Thinking he had a weapon, I ran as fast I could and slipped into an alley hoping he wouldn’t find me. Luckily, he didn’t see me so I head for home down a different route.
One night, I was walking home until I heard some freaky footsteps. I looked around but no one was there so I carried on walking. Just then, I noticed someone mysterious following me so I started to run as fast as lightning but he started to jog behind me. After, I carried on walking home, but then he rushed in front of me and pushed me out of the way and stared at me for ten seconds. Feeling frightened, I tried to escape by looking for a different short cut. Around the corner, I was eventually home sweet home. FINALLY!
One night, I was running through the darkness of the streets. Seeming to be followed by a man, I sprinted rapidly from paths to alleys to escape. However, the tall, mysterious man started to run after me. Horrified of the bloodthirsty man, I was forced to keep running onwards; it was like my legs could run for miles and miles. Finally, the light came into view. Running towards the dazzling light, as if it was a safety beacon that would help me see, I felt safer. I turned to face the evil man who was going to end my life…
In the street, in the middle of the night, the sky was like bats flying into your face. The rain was slippery like sliding on ice. At that moment, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted all of the lights switch off, which made me feel that a petrifying ghost was attacking me. As it was pitch black, I was running, sprinting rapidly to get home then I slipped and fell into the treacherous, deep mud. Then I heard a mysterious voice and I looked around but I couldn’t see anybody. Just then I felt a touch …
The street is as dark as the moonless sky. There is bits of light everywhere with bits of rain trickling down from the atmosphere. As I sprinted down the slippery street I saw a car. Its colour was as orange as a raging fire. At that moment I slipped down and landed in a trench of mud. Would I ever get out? In that instant I started panicking then I pulled myself out of the trench with a ripped branch. Just then I heard a twig snap. Nervously I walked up. As I got closer I saw an old man.
Detail of our Mega Motion walk and assembly with Willington's mayor and Bilbo Baggins have now appeared on Mega Motion's Twitter and Facebook pages. We were delighted to hear that they all enjoyed the day as much as we did and we were pleased that they commented on how well behaved we are! Here are some of their comments...
"Lots of fun was had at Sunnybrow Primary School last Friday with Mega Motion Sam and our friend Bilbo. Keep on walking, cycling and scooting to school pupils of Sunnybrow Primary, you are doing great!" "Just wanted to e-mail to say many thanks to all of the staff and children of Sunnybrow Primary School for taking part in the Mega Motion Walk and assembly on Friday. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as Team Local Motion did. All of my team commented on what wonderfully behaved children you have at the school and what a pleasure it was to meet them. " After a little break from the 100 word challenge, we are now going to be taking part more often. Please leave your response in the comments on this post.
This week we have a picture of a street at night. You have 100 words to produce a creative piece of writing. Use your imaginations! Just make sure what you write makes sense to your readers. On Friday, we had an incredible morning as we took part in a Mega Walk and had an exciting assembly, through the Mega Motion campaign, which encourages children to walk to school at least once a week.
As most of our class walk, cycle or scoot into school each Friday, we were proud to win our school the Mega Walk. Aliesha was selected as the winner from all children who walked each week last term so she was presented with prizes and she even got to talk on Star Radio before the walk! There were two routes into school and every child who took part in the walk also received fun prizes. Aliesha's walk was joined by Sam (the mascot) and Bilbo Baggins from the Hobbit as it was an explorer themed walk. Once we arrived in school, we were treated to an assembly, where some of us were chosen to act out the Hobbit in front of the whole school, plus members of the police force and even the mayor! We discovered that it is much better to walk outside and go on adventures, rather than remaining indoors... or we might end up like Gollum! MEGA Motion is all about being active on your way to and from school. To help you achieve your ‘Sixty Active Minutes’, we want you and your family to leave the car behind on MEGA Fridays and walk, cycle, scoot or take the bus to school. Recently pupils at schools across South Durham took part in a competition to tell us what their perfect MEGA Friday walk to school would be like. Each Friday children have been collecting points and a winner was chosen out of the children with maximum points for walking each week. There were loads of entries and we’re happy to announce that a pupil from our school is one of the lucky winners! Aliesha is the proud winner of the ‘Get On Board the Explorer Express’ walk. As a prize, on Friday 23rd all children and parents have the chance to walk to school with the Local Motion MEGA Explorers. All children are invited to dress up as explorer characters for the day if they wish – e.g. Indiana Jones, astronauts, Dora the Explorer or a safari explorer. There will be two led walks to school. If you live close to school, feel free to join the walk. If you usually drive, you could park your car nearby and join in with part of the walk. The times of all the stops are listed overleaf. It would be great if you could join us on one of the routes below: Route 1 – Start 08:35 – The corner of the Spectrum road, opposite Dene View, Willington. · Pick up 1 8:39 – Sunnybrow sign – opposite Burnington Drive · Pick up 2 8:45 – Corner of Cherry Tree Drive · Pick up 3 8:48 – Corner of Greenways Estate · 08.55 – Arrive at school Route 2 – Start 08:40 – Collier House, near Play Park. · Pick up 1 8:45– Corner of Clifton Green · Pick up 2 8:50 – Cross road to St John’s Garden · 08.55 – Arrive at school Today we had fun completing our core task for our new gymnastics unit of work in PE. We will review our work and look at how to improve our skills across the next half term. Today we tasted different types of Chinese food including sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean with rice, wontons, spring rolls, curried noodles and many more. Everyone had different reactions to the food as some of us had never tasted any Chinese food before so we were surprised at the flavours. We thought carefully about what ingredients were in each food and how they might have been made.
