Today we worked in pairs or groups of 3 to design and make a lighthouse using a range of materials, which included an electrical circuit to make it light up. We used our knowledge of circuits from our science lessons to make sure that our light bulb would light up and we could turn it on and off using a switch. What do you think of our designs?

Today we had another fantastic parent craft event in the hall. It was great to see so many parents in school helping their children with craft activities including: making a totem pole, designing a key ring, making a foam owl and creating a scratch art t-shirt. Thank you very much to everyone who came along and to Julie Bray for organising the activities. As part of our Design Technology topic about Chinese food, we spent this afternoon cooking vegetable chow mein with Miss Ball. Working in small groups, we took turns chopping, stirring, frying and writing up our recipe. Thank you to Angela and Mrs Leddy for helping out.
Can you write a review of our cooking? Today we tasted different types of Chinese food including sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean with rice, wontons, spring rolls, curried noodles and many more. Everyone had different reactions to the food as some of us had never tasted any Chinese food before so we were surprised at the flavours. We thought carefully about what ingredients were in each food and how they might have been made.
The children who attend the lunchtime club with the ladies from Lydia Street Methodist Church have been having a great time learning more about the Bible and completing craft activities. If you would like to join, then just come along to the library on Monday lunchtimes. After lots of hard work, we have finally completed our ancient Egyptian mummies and sarcophagi. We started by making mummies out of clay and then wrapping them in modroc to look as if they were wrapped in bandages. Then we created the sarcophagus by building up layers of modroc around our mummy until it was strong enough to hold our clay mummies.. Finally, we painted our designs. |
