Joanne from 4Real paid us a visit to announce the winners of the alcohol poster competition, which was judged by members of the alcohol project team, including police officers and members of the local community. Well done to Kirsty who was the overall winner and Luke who was the runner up. Their posters will be displayed around the local area to highlight some of the dangers of alcohol for young people. This is Kirsty's fantastic winning poster and she was delighted with her prizes, which included a £20 Argos voucher and art supplies. Congratulations Kirsty! Here are Kirsty and Luke's prizes and Luke's second place poster is below.

Today 16 of us took part in the Parkside cluster athletics festival at Peases West athletics track. We put 100% effort into each event and are very proud of ourselves. In most events, we finished in 2nd or 3rd place, even with some Y3s and Y4s from our team competing against Y6s from other schools. Huge congratulations go to Briony who was the champion of the girl's shot put, with an outstanding throw of 13 metres! Well done to everyone who took part! Year 6 have had yet another brilliant day out - this time at Northumbria University (which is where Miss Potts went when she was a student). We had a great day with our student reps, Heather and Nonso, who were really impressed with our behaviour and the quality of the questions that we asked. We played games in the enormous sports hall, did a treasure hunt in the library and explored the campus by playing 'Campus Monopoly'. Extra congratulations to Luke who was chosen as the star pupil in our group during the graduation ceremony, due to his outstanding behaviour and attitude during the day.
We had a real treat today as Year 6 visited Durham Cathedral for their leavers service and then went out for a meal afterwards. Everyone had a day to remember and set a fantastic example for our school as usual. Plus, the ice creams were delicious!
Here are some of the posters that we have created as part of the alcohol awareness project with 4Real. We will let everyone know who is chosen as the winners as soon as we find out. Today was our first music lesson of the term. We sang songs, played the chime bars and did some percussion activities.
