On Thursday, we visited Willington Community Action Centre to look at a very special art exhibition. All of the work was created by Jewish children at the Terezin Ghetto during the Second World War and it is currently on loan for a short time from a Jewish museum in Prague. It made us feel very sad to discover the hardships that the children faced and how most of them tragically died shortly after creating their artwork. While it was very sad, we were all also fascinated to see the artwork and read children's poems. After looking around the gallery, we all created our own artwork and acrostic poem about life in a concentration camp during WW2. During our visit, we were joined by Baroness Armstrong, who was very impressed with our outstanding behaviour and our fantastic work. She decided to award prizes to Kieran and Ciaran for their drawings and Rhianna and Courtney for their poems. Well done everyone for setting an excellent example for our school.

It is really sad to know about how many people died in war and at the camp.

It is upsetting that only a few people survived the camps.
