We have been learning about Fair Trade today. We found out about Cocoa farmers and how they have benefited from the scheme. We then used some Fair Trade chocolate to make some crispy cakes . . . yummy!! We are in the process of putting a scrap book together to show what we have found out. Watch this space . . . .

We have been learning about school in Spanish Speaking countries. Today, we were practising telling the time in Spanish. We worked together asking and answering questions . . .
Our new geography topic is all about Brazil. Today we have been using an atlas to locate Brazil and label it's neighbouring countries. We worked really well with our partners . . . .
Today we have had a tennis coach working with us. We developed our throwing skills and improved our ability to throw accurately using underarm. We also worked on throwing with accuracy. We were shown how to correctly hold a racquet and how to stand in the 'ready position'. We took part in mini challenges to see who could score the most points and improve their skills the most by the end of the session! Look at the fun we had . . .
We had the pleasure of attending a Chapel in Lydia Street to learn all about the Easter Journey. We were involved in drama and role play activities; what an amazing way to learn! We had a fabulous afternoon. Look at our photos below to see what we got up to. Can you tell which parts of the Easter story we were acting out?
Over the last term, we have been putting together our own scene for an RSC production with a cluster of schools from across the region. The children have done an excellent job of learning their lines and learning to use actions, intonation and expression.
Last week, they did us proud with a fantastic production; well done to you all!! Watch this space for future productions! We have been getting some basic first aid training from St John's Ambulance. We were taught how to treat both a conscious and unconscious casualty. After being shown the best practice, we tried all of the techniques with our partners.
We visited Hardwick Park to learn how to read and follow maps in order to find places and objects around the park. It was a fantastic venue with some beautiful sites. We began by undertaking some activities which required us to follow maps and plans and use directional language. We had good fun! We also had to work in teams in order to assemble a map of the park; this required excellent communication and team working. Some of us were fantastic team leaders! Next, we were involved in a short orienteering activity where we followed a map of the park. We had three teams competing against one another. The most effective team communicated well, checked the map regularly and ensured that no team members were left behind! Our final challenge was an activity across the entire park; it was a tough challenge, but we had good fun and worked up a great appetite for lunch! We saw some wonderful sights and some beautiful wildlife and nature! What a lovely day!
We have had so much fun at Newcastle University today! Our safari helped us to learn more about what university is like and what we can do if we decided to study at university in the future. Have a look at our pictures. Needless to say, we all graduated! We had a guest speaker who came to talk to us about road safety and how we can ensure that we stay safe at all times! It has helped us all to reflect upon our journey to and from school and also how we need to stay vigilant when playing in our local community. If you have any hints and tips, please share them with us!
Today we have chosen the focus for charity project (Go Givers). We began by looking at a variety of different causes, how we could help them and how we could raise money. We had some amazing ideas, but in the end, we held a vote and agreed to raise money for charities preventing animal cruelty; what a worthy cause!
This is just the first step in our process so watch this space and we'll keep you informed about our progress with our fund raising. Any ideas? Share them with us . . . Some of the pupils from Class 4 have been attending some after school clubs. Some of us chose the cookery club - just look at the tasty treats we have been cooking up in the kitchen! As well as preparing and cooking, we have also been learning about health, safety and food hygiene.
We could select our favourite toppings for our individual pizzas - don't they look delicious? What is your favourite topping? Got any unusual ideas? Post them on our blog for us to share! We have been discussing what it is to be respectful to others. We got creative with our ideas. What do you think it means? How can we be respectful in school, at home and in the wider community? Got any thoughts . . . post a comment below!
